Job Summary CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Service Area
Director to join our Electric Operations Team, located in Houston,
TX. You will have the ability to: be responsible for all customer
issues and relationships with all cities, county and state
governments, Chambers of Commerce and other professional
organizations within the service area. This position is accountable
and responsible for all electric business operations within the
geographic area of the service center. Essential Functions
- Direct and communicate strategic direction of business unit
staff, and provide guidance on financial, reliability, and customer
issues.
- Establish and deliver on territory goals that utilize the
Company's long range corporate plans coupled with information on
industry, economic, and environmental trends to develop these
strategies.
- Implement necessary Emergency Operations Plans for the service
area to restore service to the customers as soon as possible while
maintaining crew and public safety: may require 24-hour
availability for extended timeframe.
- Evaluate the service center's ability to satisfy customer needs
and balance resources to meet these needs.
- Serve as leader for system wide trouble response in managing
resource application to service recovery across CNP footprint.
- Provide developmental opportunities that allow staff talents to
be identified and groomed.
- Provide managerial guidance to staff on reporting needs and
requirements. Review periodic reports on activities status,
productivity, budget variance, and all significant business issues.
Determine if corrective action is needed and direct changes which
need to be made.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor the service center budget in
conjunction with the overall Distribution Operations budget.
- Maintain current knowledge of corporate and departmental
policies and procedures.
- Provide positive representation for CenterPoint Energy and to
the public, to customers and to the employees through membership in
professional organizations, serving on Company task forces,
conducting employee meetings, and visiting job sites.
- Be available for consultations with other department managers
and direct reporting supervisors on as needed basis to provide
direction necessary for day-to-day operations and to address cross
functional issues. Education Description
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline
preferred.
- Will consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy or
industry-related experience in lieu of degree. Experience
- Eight to twelve years work experience, including career
progression in positions of increasing scope and responsibility and
leadership/decision making experience in a supervisory capacity.
Utility operations experience preferred. We want you to know Being
